The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has been licensed by The Royal College of Radiologists and the College of Radiographers to manage and deliver Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme (ISAS).
ISAS is a patient-focussed assessment and accreditation programme that is designed to help diagnostic imaging services ensure that their patients consistently receive high quality services, delivered by competent staff working in safe environments.
NHS England has outlined its strong position towards accreditation of diagnostic services by publishing a position statement. It remains committed to, and strongly endorses participation of diagnostic services in the ISAS scheme.
The Imaging Directorate at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust is about to begin work on the Traffic Light Ready (TLR) online tool in order to create a structured, comprehensive gap analysis against the ISAS Standard.
The Directorate currently holds 2 UKAS Independent Technical/Peer Assessors for ISAS, they are:
- Gill Tomlinson (radiographer); Quality & Safety Manager
- Thomas Lowbridge (radiographer); Group Manager & Lead Radiographer
